We are Finally Here!

Hey guys, Maddy here. I finally made it to the Bahamas! It all started yesterday in Fort Lauderdale.We made it to the Fort Lauderdale Airport at 10:00 in the morning. Our flight left at 12:30. The plane ride was very fun. It was a very short flight, too. Being only 50 minutes long, our plane landed in Nassau. This is the capital of Bahamas. I learned from the flight attendant that there are over 700 islands and cays in the Bahamas! We had lunch at the Nassau airport. Its not always chicken nuggets and hot dogs here. We went to Dunkin Donuts and had sandwiches. Then, as we waited for our last flight over to Rock Sound, Eleuthera, my sister Emmy and I colored pictures. Our flight left at 3:30. This was a small, propeller plane. Luckily, this flight was only 25 minutes long! You would think we could save money by driving there, but remember, these are islands. We would be driving underwater! Anyways, this plane was very hot. I was glad when we landed. This airport was very small. It was about as big as a community clubhouse. I learned how much simpler life was over here. No giant buildings here! My grandfather picked us up with his new friend, Jeremiah. He lived around here. Jeremiah drove us to the dock. Interesting fact: In the Bahamas, they drive on the left side of the road and the steering wheel is where the passenger seat should be. We made it to the dock and met my grandmother, Mamere. Emmy wanted to go on a pirate treasure hunt and we actually found treasure! It was sand dollars and necklaces. We walked down a sandy trail to a beach. The water is very clear and the sand feels like powder. We are finally here!

 After an hour at the beach, it started getting dark. We walked home and I saw a little hermit crab. I named him Hermit. I also found a conch shell. I put Hermit in the conch and we walked home. I took a video of Hermit down below.

 After taking a video of Hermit, I set him free and we had dinner. I was very tired, so we went to sleep fast. I have been through a lot so far, but my adventure has just begun.
